June Happy Hour: ‘You Don’t Always Have To Follow The Formula’
June’s Happy Hour presenter will be Rebecca Gates, an Oregon-based musician, artist, curator, and activist. She tours and releases albums internationally, and has appeared on recordings by a range of artists including Willie Nelson, Akito Katayose and The Decemberists. Rebecca will discuss the working world of operating independently and highlighting tools that artists can utilize, past approaches that are still relevant, and lessons to be learned from alternative cultures. Rebecca will speak to breaking out of our silos, looking at other forms of art work, what we can learn from each other, and drawing ties between working independently and the current state of the tech and start-up industries.
